Scams are a danger to anyone thinking of renting. If the owner will not meet you personally and show you the house, or a Property Manager won't meet you and show you the house, it is probably a scam. It works like this... a property is advertised. The e-mail address is probably the rightful owners name at gmail or yahoo or whatever...the owner has decided to do something overseas, and yes the house had been on the market but the ad was old and it no longer is...still showing up though. They will rent it for less than the the going market, because they don't believe in gouging...or they are Christians, or any number of other reasons...so just WIRE them the deposit and first months rent and then go to the real estate agent to get the key...by then your money is gone, and you have been scammed...you also have no place to live! Be very careful wherever you are to verify everything, and never wire money to some stranger you have never met....they sound so very nice and honest....but they aren't!
