Fair Housing Law began with the Civil Rights Act in 1966 and protected people from discremination against race. In 1968 it was ammended to include protection against race, color, religion, sex and national origin. It was once again ammended in 1988 to include people with physical or mental impairments and familial status such as, blind or deaf and senior citizens.
There is talk of an 8th protected class being added which will be sexual orientation but it has not been added yet.
I hope this is informative and please feel free to contact me with any other questions that I may assist you with.
