Urban living in San Antonio?

Asked by KT, Seattle, WA Tue May 7, 2013

My boyfriend is being transferred to Ft. Sam Houston and will be working at the hospital out there. He will be living on base, and I will be moving out and looking for work. I'll be moving out from Seattle where I live in a fairly urban area in a newer loft style studio centrally located to shops and restaurants and would love to be able to find a place similar in San Antonio. I don't mind driving to work but do not want to commute more than 30 mins, and love to be able to just walk out to get groceries or find a restaurant when I'm home.

Is there an area in San Antonio like this? Am I asking too much?

There are certainly a few lofts over in that area that you would be really interested in. Having just been to Seattle; I certainly know what kind of living style you're talking about. We don't have nearly the kind of urban living Seattle offers, but it's certainly becoming a growing part of San Antonio's skyline.

How soon will you be needing to look? Also, have you thought about living in the area as a home tender for a short period of time when you move so that you can get a better feel for the area itself? We could open up all types of options for you if needed.

Give us a shout anytime.
Have a great day and you'll love living in SA.. a tad bit more sun than Seattle. ;)

There are a lot of new Loft Style Living in Downtown San Antonio and near Fort Sam Houston. The biggest problem, they are in high demand and most of them are on a waiting list. There are several at the Pearl Brewry area as well. They are popping up all over Downtown San Antonio.

If I can help, just contact me anytime.

There has been a great expansion to the River Walk in this area, and a complete renovation to the Historic Pearl Brewery. The lofts in this particular development are new, but there are other properties in central San Antonio that were built from already existing buildings. I know quite a few agents in town that can help you find something you may like for sure! This site also has a number of resources as well.…

There are actually some new buildings going up at the moment very near downtown that fit what you are describing. Contact me and I can get you some more information. I helped another couple just a year or two ago relocate from Seattle.
