Student rental in the Los Angeles area.

Asked by Desiree, Long Beach, CA Thu Apr 4, 2013

My daughter is looking to rent a small studio in the area as she attends a community college. What would a landlord require of a first time renter?

Most Landlords require the same things: Credit History, one - two months security deposit and first months rent. They may also require referrals or a co-signer.

Desiree,
Much depends on the landlord. Most require a credit check. Depending on the area they might be looking for a credit score over 650. Others are not as particular.

If your daughter does not have established credit, some landlords will require you to act as a cosigner.

The best thing you can do is contact some places in the area where she wants to live and see what the market is in that particular area.

Please call or send an email if you need help with any of your real estate needs.
