One room sublet for $1000 or less in Washington Heights?

Asked by Essie, New York, NY Sun Sep 30, 2012

My friend and I have been looking for a temporary one-room sublet for less than $1000 (and have searched up to $1200) per month for the month of October in Washington Heights, with the intention of looking for and a long-term apartment during that month. One of our Columbia friends is in a one room sublet with utilities included for $600 in Washington Heights, so I did not think this was impossible. However, when using listings on Craigslist and other sites, very few people have responded to our emails.

Do any of you have recommendations for how to quickly find a sublet which meets my criteria?
