You could always live on Cape Cod and commute to Boston.
Then you are already at the beach on weekends.

Lots of great options if you are buying but it will be harder to find a new construction home if you are renting.

Some suburbs to consider (and these suggestions are being made without knowing your price range - the closer you get to Boston the more expensive it gets):
*This search is for homes built after 2000

More expensive:

Less expensive:

West Roxbury, Boston:…

I am presently building 4 homes in Newton one of the countries finest places to live, great schools, transporation, location and qualtiy of life.

I recently completed homes in Brookline and Needham as well.

There are many other great communities available to you, much will depend on your price range as to which suburb will best suit your needs. I am happy to discuss the communities with you and what each has to offer.

I work in both the City and in the Suburbs. I live in the Suburbs south of Boston. I am happy to assist you in your search. There are a few new developments happening as we speak. Hammond Residential has offices on the South Shore and in the city.

I would definately suggest getting a Pre-Approval done. The further out you go from the city the more likely you are to find new/newer construction that is reasonable. What is resonable will be determined by you and your price range. Dont discount older homes closer to the city. Many of these homes have some unique characteristics and may have modern updates as well. Good luck in your search.

There are plenty of nice suburbs and most of living outside the city depends on where you need to commute for work and what you what you are looking for in a community. Can you elaborate a bit more on the ideal home/town that you are looking for.

I'm working with a developer who is renovating two properties. The properties will be like new when the construction is done. One is in Burlington, the other is in Belmont. If you would consider this option, the work could be done to your taste and needs.
