there are A LOT of scams on the internet with people advertising properties for rent... then they either tell you a story that the owner is out of town and you need to send the deposit via western union or they get a local fool to go to the property and pick up the deposit...

If it sounds too good to be truth.. it is.

Follow your intuition...

Welcome to the joy of the internet. There's a lot of scams out there, and you just have to be smart about it. There are no "internet police." And it's not Trulia's responsibility to make sure each and every listing is legitimate.

With that said....if you are considering renting...heed the warnings they have posted for you. Do not send money to anyone who you don't know. Make sure you are able to see the property in person and meet with the landlord or property manager IN PERSON. Pretty much common sense. Good luck!
