Whenever you see any properties like this give your agent a call. They will almost always be a scam, but your agent should be able to clarify it for you. They can also send you active properties that are currently for sale in your price range. This way you don't waste your time on the scams.
If you see something like this on Craig's List, there are three places you can look to see if it is a scam. In our valley, most rentals are advertised in our Multiple Listing Service (MLS) or two different property management companies that do not participate in the MLS.
First check to see if it is on the MLS, go to http://www.SCVHomeRentals.com to search the MLS
The go to http://www.SCREM.com and see if it is on their site
Then go to http://www.RentWithClassics.com and see if it is on their site
If you see it advertised at a normal price anywhere on the above sites, then it is a scam on Craig's List

Your Friend & Realtor,

This home is for sale at $472,000 with me. Some idiot is trying to scam money so I contacted Truila and the ad was taken down. It was also posted on craigslist plus this happens everyday.
