Danielle Hay…, Renter in 46235

Is there a way to rent out an already vacant or abandoned house in the same area I am already staying?

Asked by Danielle Hayes, 46235 Wed Aug 15, 2012

I figure if there is an empty home on the market, maybe I can rent it for market value, that way it isn`t sitting empty.

Danielle, I have done this myself in the past! You will have to find out who the owner is & contact them to see if they are interested. You can send me the address to look it up for you or if you know what township you can call the assessor's office to verify ownership & go from there. Good luck!

Hi Danielle,

I like the way you think. But, and it's a big but, if the home is vacant -
keep watching. Sometimes they do go on the market and you'll see
a sign go up in the yard or in a window. If it's abandoned, keep an
eye on it. Most abandoned homes will eventually go on the market.

If it's been abandoned and there's a mortgage on it, it can take up
to a couple years for the bank to get possession and put it on the
market.

Thanks for asking,

Marita

Good afternoon, Nina is correct lookup the tax records and find out who owns the property. Tax records will sometimes have the owners forwarding address. Also you may want to consider purchasing a home with rates low and no money or little money down programs. Best wishes.

Contract a local Realtor, they would have the best information on rental homes.

Good Luck
