Loyola is at the far north end of the city and within a short commute many quality suburban school districts. If you don't mind the suburbs, they might be a good option. Rents may run in the $2 - 3k.
All the best,
If you are planning on taking the Red line to work it might make sense to live walking distance to the Red/Purple/Brown Line.
This website has a ton of information on the ins and outs of the CPS: http://cpsobsessed.com/the-basics-of-cps/.
Easiest way is to find a good school is find one that your kids can attend if you live within the boundaries of the school. Might cost you a bit more in rent, but it could help you avoid the lottery which could justify some extra rent dollars.
I can help find your rental if you accept the job, please call or email me. Good luck with everything!
I have children in the CPS system, who have been in gifted programs, and go to top rated Selective enrollment schools. I would be glad to share what I know about navigating the system, so feel free to call or email me.

For rental price, it depends on what part of the city you want to move to, what type of building, etc. I would suggest getting a good leasing agent. This way you have someone to walk you through the process, at no cost to you.
