Rentals in Mountain House>Question Details

Joy Wilder, Renter in Mountain House, CA

I'm confused about the high crime block in Mountain House as I don't see any reported crimes listed within. Could this be a mistake?

Hello jldub11,

Great info from Anna. When researching, be sure to narrow down Mountain House by Zip Code which is 95391. The statistics can be easily mistaken. I believe the numbers include Tracy as well. Take a look at the map here: http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Mountain_House-California/crime/ and you can see that Tracy, CA is also in the map which is a larger city and includes multiple neighborhoods. The only reports I see in Mountain House is related to theft which may likely be due to when there were many vacant homes sitting. This seemed to be common in most new communities that had a high vacancy rate due to the depressed market. This has since changed. With limited inventory and the size of Mountain House, the town has been rediscovered and has come back strong.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
