When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Contact the Chicago Police Department for this inquiry. Having said that, I lived most of my life in East and West Rogers Park. My best opinion is that WEST Rogers Park is better than east epecailly west of Western Ave and North of Pratt Ave.

Hope it helps.

Hi Aaron!

I have lived in Rogers Park for six years and am a Broker in the area. If you are considering relocating to this area, I would be more than happy to show you around and let you decide for yourself whether it is for you or not! Feel free to call or text me at (773)680-6614

The Chicago Police Department actually has a computer program that you can use that shows a "crime map" of the entire area. I would highly recommend doing so.

You don't want to be anywhere near Rogers Park. There are gangs, rampant crime, drugs all over place (especially Howard Street), and it has gotten worse over the years. A female friend of mine, who was a comedian, was killed in her Rogers Park apartment in the 1990s (it made the news).

Search the internet for stats or ask the police department for incident reports.
Good luck.

I would recommend you drive the area at different times of day and talk to local businesses owners and police officers about what living in a particular neighborhood will be like.

Agents cannot make any statements regarding the "safety" of one area over another for fair housing reasons.

The easiest way to tell about safety is to check crime statistics. Try these:
