Rentals in Oakland>Question Details

Latanya Brown, Home Buyer in San Leandro, CA

I have a home that I need to rent in the Millsgarden/ Millsmont area of Oakland. It is a two bedroom one bath home. What could I expect for rent?

The kitchen has not been updated. There is a non working garage used for storage only. There are hardwood floors.

I would consult with a couple of property managers as well as checking Craigslist as Richard suggests. If you are going to manage the property yourself do make sure to look into the Oakland regulations for landlords and consider joining Everything is fine when you manage property until it goes wrong and that can be expensive for you!

I can help you rent and market the property if you would like a professional property management company to help.

Your best resource is to take a look at Craigslist and see what is available that is similar to your home. You can look at a map view on CL to see how close the available rentals are to yours and see what the others are renting for, they will usually be in a range of rents that will help you determine what to ask for your rental.

The lack of an updated kitchen is not a deal killer as long as everything is clean and nicely painted. If it has the original style kitchen and has some charm, it should rent well.

I hope this helps.
