I think you would get a killer deal.

It might matter if you were the murderee or the murderor;
but other than that, it is just a matter of whether it would bother you or not.

There are lots of variables that can affect this. How recently the murder happened, if it was a random killing or domestic issue, how grisly the murder was, etc. Sometimes if the market is booming and renters are having trouble finding homes, you won't get much of a discount at all.

You should be able to secure a solid deal.

If you're renting in Oakland, wouldn't the rent be the same?

hahahahahaha at the answers, I used to think that realtors were stuffy, now I find they have a killer sense of humor. I read of a story of some woman who suddenly discovered that she had bought a house where a murder occured. Apparently she was able to sue the realtor for not disclosing the house past. I think homes near cemeteries might have lower rent if you are looking to lower your rent.

It all depends on the state and locality involved. Many states do not require any notification whatsoever of a death in a house. If it's really important to you to understand the history of your house, do some research on your own. Look at old maps for burial plots or contact the police department. Not everyone buys into the fact that a death nearby has anything to do with the value of a home currently.

It might be more expensive.
Why are you asking?

I am guessing you think it should be free. What difference does it make what happened there?
