Hi Ethel.

There is enough scamming going on with the rental business to take great care before providing any payment.

Don't be afraid to ask for a copy of the most recent tax bill marked paid and a copy of their driver's license. If they hesitate, come up with excuses, or can't provide this basic information, there a good chance they are playing games...likely at your expense.

Good luck,

Bill

Dear Ethelrapp:

You need to get the block and lot number of the property first, you can do that on the web site http://www.PropertyShark.com. Then go to this page on the NYC.gov website and you can look it up:
http://a836-acris.nyc.gov/Scripts/Coverpage.dll/index

If you want you can also contact me direct and I would be more than happy to look it up for you. Good luck!

Sincerely,
