How can I get a landlord to take a chance in renting to me if my past renting experience isn't favorable?

First, you need to determine why the last renting experience did not work out. Did you rent a place that was above your budget? Were you able to keep it in good condition? Once you can identify what happened, you are in a better position to make sure that trend does not continue.

Make sure that you rent a property that is well within your budget and then make sure you pay your rent on time. These are two essentials when renting. To get off on a good start, you may need to pay not only your deposit and first month's rent but even offer an additional month's rent as a show of good faith (if it is within your finances to do so).
