Family Friendly Sarasota Community?

Asked by Kristi, Lakeland, FL Thu Jun 13, 2013

Hi! My husband, and I are looking to make the move to the Sarasota area. We are a young active family looking to rent a home in a gated community with a pool, near shopping, beach, fantastic schools, and an area with other young families (quite the list, I know.) :) Most important would be community pool, fantastic schools, and area with other families. The home would have to have at least 4 beds and 2 baths, and a fenced backyard is great plus. We also have 2 small dogs, so pet-friendly too. Not set on the budget quite yet, but I'm thinking under $2000 per month would be suitable. (This all depends on pending job offers) Anyone have any specific communities that would fit our needs? Thanks for the help!

Kristi, If you are planning on moving to Sarasota, visit the website city-data.com (sarasota) there you will find statistics and a public forum of questions and answers. As realtors, recommending an area is beyond the scope of our licensure. Based upon your price point neighborhoods will emerge as potential homes.

Sarasota is a resort community. Most homes are 2 bedroom / 2 bath or 3 bedroom / 2 bath. 4 bedrooms are not the norm. This size home is located south in North Port or north in Manatee county. The core of Sarasota does not offer four bedrooms as usual. If a home does have 4 bedrooms it will be priced in the 400,000s and up.

If you are mentioning $2000 / month are you thinking about renting rather than buying? Annual rentals are scarce as many owners are renting for part of the year so they can use the property for their own enjoyment the remainder of the year.

With regard to a rental, a pet friendly home will be challenging to find. Anticipate a pet security deposit. You will have to disclose the breeds and weight of the dogs. The pets will be the driving criteria for the rental unit.

If you consider buying, then a single family home will provide you with the flexibility that you are seeking. Many gated communities are priced in the mid 200s and up.

Actually..there are quite a few that would suit almost all of your needs. I would be delighted to help you with your search. You may have to go just a tad over $2000, but maybe not much.
