Can you negotiate prices?

Asked by Ashe Family, Lynchburg, VA Thu May 31, 2012

Is there things you can negotiate like bringing in your own dishwasher and dryer as well as stove?

Just about everything in real estate is negotiable. A good agent will help you. A renter/buyer never pays a commission so its an asset.

I agree with Erin. But would add that you take a moment and write a letter or note to enclose with the application so the landlord gets to hear from you directly as to why the home should be rented for less. Be it a need on your part, or, perhaps due to the property condition, or, whatever.

I have found, over the last 23 years in the business, that if you can connect on a personal level, whether it is a rental or a sale, the parties to the transaction (including the agents) will be more likely to compromise with each other.

Now if we could have our congress do the same we all might be all better off. :)

Everything is negotiable! When you submit an application to rent a property, you can notate the things you would like to change/bring.
