I know that when a transition is looming, our first inclination is to take action sooner than later. Unfortunately--in today's rental market--many properties are being rented within 2 to 4 weeks. As such, properties that you find today online may not be available by Thanksgiving. As difficult as it might be, I would recommend waiting until the last week of December to start looking for a rental property for 2/1/13.
Although there has been some great information previously posted, I would actually recommend against http://www.craigslist.org. Unfortunately, there are a lot of scams on that site. I have had ads that I have posted on http://www.rentals.com highjacked, altered and reposted on Craig's List asking the unsuspecting person to send money to the "home owner" at their "new" location overseas. My company manages approximately 600 homes in the Denver Metro Area, and we only advertise on our web site http://(www.starsandstripeshomes.com) and http://www.rentals.com. Rentals.com "feeds" about 20 other web sites for us (including trulia.com, zillow.com), but I'd recommend http://www.starsandstripeshomes.com and http://www.rentals.com for accurate and up-to-date information.
Hope this helps!

Most rental properties that are available right now have a line of people who can move in "next weekend" that landlords are filling them FAST!
Definitely keep an eye out on the following websites:
http://www.craigslist.org http://www.trulia.com http://www.zillow.com http://www.hotpads.com
Let me know if I can any other questions!

The best places to look are Craigslist and Rent.com. The rental market vacancy rate is as low as it has ever been. Start early looking and have all of your documents and paperwork in order. It will be good to have some references available as well. Good luck wit your search.
