i dont want to move into somewhere if later down the line someone can come and tell us to move because its suppose to be a single family home. also i am a christian law abiding woman and have family who own and rent and if your recieving rent money you should be paying our state rental tax and not cheating them from it. right?

Yes Kool. Check with the town/city to determine if the property is a legal and rentable property. There is no "rental tax", rent is considered income and that is the seller and their accountants responsibility. Just make sure your place is legal and you have a written lease you abide by and you'll be fine.

If you are concerned about whether a certain property has the correct legal permits, the best place to go would be the city permits office in order to check the permits. You can also look into a properties zoning. All homeowners are required to pay property taxes. You can also check on the city tax roll to see whether a certain property's taxes have been paid. Good luck!
