Why don't apartment managers tell you the types of people who live there?

Asked by Trulia Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV Wed Nov 7, 2012

Why can't apartment managers disclose who their tenants are. They keep it a secret. Is it against the law?

Definitely against fair housing laws and privacy. Would you want your landlord telling people your name, phone number, race, age, etc?

Doesn't make sense. Why don't you stand in front of the gate all day and watch who comes in and out; you're definitely a creeper if you do this.

Because it's against Fair Housing Laws.

It is probably against federal fair housing laws, but I would discuss further with an attorney in that area if possible.
