Nanite Jean-…, Renter in Queens, NY

My fiancee and I are looking to rent , we have no idea where to start looking . What neighborhoods are safe ?

Asked by Nanite Jean-aimee, Queens, NY Sat Feb 23, 2013

Hi , my name is Nani . I currently live in Oceanside , NY - which is in Long Island . And my fiancee , William , lives in Peekskill , NY . We want to move in together . We would like something in Queens so that it would be in the middle of both of our jobs . My fiancee works in the city , and I work in Rockville Centre , NY . We are looking for a one bedroom apartment , a safe neighborhood and our budget is $1100 . We would like a place with at least one amenity included in the rent . We are both very clean and responsible . We are basically rental virgins so we do not know much about renting . We can definitely pay security and anything needed . I would definitely like a place that allows pets , because I want to get a bunny , and my fiancee later wants a dog . I like pomeranian teacups , but he said we can't waste $5000 on a dog haha . Any information would be helpful . Thank you in advance !

1100 is on the low side, you can probably afford a studio for that price. The pet issue is also problematic(moreso for a dog) as many buildings are not pet friendly.I would reccomend checking out some neighborhoods for yourself, and talk to some local brokers. Minimum price for a 1 bedroom near my office is around 1,350 and up

Check or work with an agent; also check local print media for by owner rentals, always verify ownership before exchanging any money; word of mouth, etc
