Is it possible to rent a 2-3 bedroom house in the Charlotte NC area with credit issues due to divorce?

Asked by Kimmykim, Charlotte, NC Mon Apr 2, 2012

My husband and I are currently living in an apartment but would like to move into a house. we both have credit issues stemming from previous marriages. DOes anyone know of a management company that is flexible in their rental requirements? We meet the income requirements and neither of us have evictions.

Absolutely you can find a managment company that will work with you. Most of them realize that there were issues in the past on people's credit. As long as you have a good payment history on your rental history and your income falls within the guidelines they are looking for you should be able to find a home to rent without any problem.

Absolutely! Home rentals are essentially at the risk of the home owner, so they may choose to have the descrepancy to rent to one person in a particular situation, where an apartment complex may have just a set of guidelines/rules that they must follow and can merely approve or decline your application based on those parameters.

For the most part they are ALL flexible as long as you're honest on your rental application. With the high percentage of foreclosures and short sales over the previous 4 years, filtering out credit "issues" would eliminate over half of the rental pool and (for the most part) they just cannot afford to do that. Forget your credit issues and just apply (honestly) to wherever you want to live and, if your income supports the debt, you'll live where you want to.
