If one sublets their apartment, who is responsible for mutual damages in the space?

First make sure your apartment landlord actually allows you to sublet. If not, then you will be held responsible. If you are allowed, then it would be specified in your sublet contract with the sub-tenant. If you did not specify in the contract, try to collect but ultimately you have nothing legal against that person.
