I was going to rent a house but the landlord was asking my family and friends personal questions about me and my children

Actually, Analisa, there are specific rules that apply to what landlords can and cannot ask - each state has different laws that apply.

Here is a link to the Arizona Residential Tenant and Landlord Act - check it out for all the information you should need for any interactions between you and a landlord. It's always best to know your rights - sometimes landlords (especially if they're not professional Management companies but homeowner's who are renting out their houses) don't know anything about what they are allowed and not allowed to do as regards renting.

Good luck!

Because it's their house and they probably care about it and have heard the horror stories or have experience with renters and children. If it was your house, would you ask questions?
