I am thinking of applying for a teaching job in the Pittsburg Antioch area. What is the stability like in local economy and tax base?

HI James
The local government in the antioch and pittsburg area is having to deal with reduced property tax revenues. This has been going on for some time, and still continues. Until property values recover, it is going to be difficult for the local government and the school district to cope. So it probably will not be easy for you to find a teaching position in these 2 cities. Pittsburg economically may be doing slightly better than Antioch, cause of the sales tax revenues. You might want to check Brentwood, it may be doing slightly better than Antioch.
Good luck with your job search.

Hi James,
We need good teachers in every county in California; thanks for being one of the dedicated people who teach our young people!
Unfortunately, the real estate market in the Pittsburg and Antioch area has taken a pretty big "hit" and it is sometimes better financially to buy than to rent. Many people who have been foreclosed on have decided to stay in the community to keep their kids in the school system and provide a more stable environment for their family and the community.
Good luck in your search! Feel free to call me should you have any more questions.
