How to find residence in a new town....?

I am fresh out of college and will probably need to relocate to a new town for my first job. What is the best way to search for an apartment or house to rent in a new town? My number one priority is safety and second is location to my job.

Foxyfrog,

Good for you...college and all.

Look on the internet...there are many sites that will have homes for sale and or rent.

Talk with the local Chamber of Commerce for a recommendation for a real estate agent. Pick one you can connect with.

Take your time. Look at the police web page for the crime stats. Drive a neighborhood in the day, evening and on the weekend. A neighborhood's personality changes as the residents come home from work/school. Look for cleanliness, upkeep of the properties and any junk/abandoned cars.

Good luck!!
