How can I find pictures of what neighborhoods looked like in SF 30 years ago? I love SF history!

You can also look through many of the library's photos on line. Thirty years ago was the 1980's and not too much has changed in the neighborhoods. Redevopmnet had already done its major damage. The Hunters Point north slope was already built. The only differences will be the housing projects on Cesear Chavez and Northpoint.
SOMA was more industrial and there weren't any "lofts".But the Excelsior, Portola, Ingleside, Sunset, Richmond, etc haven't changed that much physically since then. The Mission has a different group of people as does Noe Valley and upper 24th Street. The Haight Ashbury was more of a scene then now and 11st was the entertainment area de jour.

Koshland San Francisco History Center contains a research collection of books, newspapers and magazines, photographs, maps, posters, archives and manuscript collections, and ephemera, documenting all aspects of San Francisco life and history. The Center is also the archives for the City and County of San Francisco.
