You Might. It all depends on where the home is located. For example, some HOA's or condo boards may require approval, and you need to file paperwork if you intend to rent a home in Columbia, MD. I believe that applies for all of HoCo, but I would check with your local government to find out. MD state does not require a license or permit to rent out a single home, but there are restrictions in certain areas.

Hi Kenya,

I would recommend that you contact the City offices in which your home is located. They will be able to inform you of any requirments you may have. I would also recommend that you contact an attorney that specializes in Real Estate law if this will be your first venture into the rental market. Many Cites have separate laws when it comes to renting out your home. And even thou it will only be for a short time, you want to make sure to protect you and your families interests. Good luck.
