I am getting ready to putting together a First Time Buyer's Seminar and am interested if anyone has done one recently? What information did you find helpful to give out? I have a mortgage person and an attorney doing their presentation and wonder what else might be helpful.
Yes, my office CENTURY 21 At The Shore Realty did one a few months ago.
We had a speakers panel with representation of a lawyer, a title company, a home inspection company, a mortgage rep. Each person spoke for about 10-15 minutes on their profession and what their part in a real estate transaction was all about.
After the presentations were done we opened the meeting up to questions from the floor.
Even though the event was not well attended (we had 5 attendees), we feel that it was a success.
Every one there asked loads of questions.
We served refreshments of coffee, tea, water and lots of cookies, pastries and of course, chips.
It was held at our local Recreation building at night for 2 hours.
We ended the meeting with door prizes and since there were so few people in attendance, everyone went home with something nice.
Next month we are planning on doing a seminar called "Stopping Foreclosures".
The content of the meeting will be offering some education to homeoweners on their options to avoiding losing their homes to foreclosure. We will have a lawyer there and a mortgage rep to speak.
We believe that we will have a lot of people in attendance for this one.
I hope that your event goes well.
It was a Saturday morning at a learning center from 10:30 am to 12 noon, we had had to bring in 5 people each and spread the word and the Mortgage person was from a large bank so they handed out fliers at the branch. The event we had back in May had only a hand full of people, so I guess it all depends.
Mia, 30 people showing up is sensational. What day and time of the week would you recommend?
Gail, I got your email. thanks
We had one in October of last year, and we usually have one every six months, it is helpful to talk about the current market and the good deals out there for homebuyers, give examples of how long it takes to buy a home and what is on the market. There are always questions so be prepared, you may want to get a home inspector and other speakers so that it would seem more interesting with different speakers, Do not let them talk too long. The event should not take much longer than 1 hour. Our last event brought in about 30 people.
We had a lot of people interested in info on short Sales. Some info about Condo vs Co-op is help ful to some. Of course have them sign in and pick a good timing.
Good luck call me if you like at 201-3427208 Mia Villon
I have not done such a seminar. And, I am surprised that there would be a need for such a seminar in Alpine. Please do a follow up and let us know how you did and the turn out. Good Luck.
