What is the typical price per sq. foot for a 15' x 14' sunroom with a large doorway in a load bearing wall?

Asked by mary.beth.14, Augusta, GA Sun Jun 10, 2012

Our house was built in 1997 and has a slab foundation. The large dooway between the house and proposed sunroom (a load bearing wall) is a must for aesthetic purposes, as we have a very open floor plan. Also the rear of house is currently vinyl siding and we would like information on if it is possible to brick the rear of the house to match the other three sides. Any information would be welcomed.

Hi Mary Beth, I've consulted a general contractor I use often who says that you should budget a minimum of $75 per square foot in the Augusta, GA area for the sunroom alone if the project requires electrical work but no plumbing work (we're assuming you don't want to install a wet bar or sink). He couldn't offer a masonry estimate, so you'll have to contact a masonry contractor for an estimate for your brickwork. Depending on the finishes in your sunroom, the actual per square foot cost could go much higher. The most important thing to do is to contact at least 3 general contractors for estimates who are recommended to you by friends and neighbors and then do a very thorough analysis of each contractor's estimate taking into consideration what each would be offering in terms of quality of work and finish. Don't be afraid to ask LOTS of questions.

I'm sorry Mary Beth,
We are a Real Estate site, run by REALTORS:
While we do have some experience with construction and remodeling, we are not Contractors.
You need to have some Contractors come out, look at what you are talking about, and do an estimate for you.
What you are proposing, over the internt, is impossible.

Good luck and may God bless
