What is the best paint color for a basement?

Ak

We are thinking of painting our basement a light yellow, but is this color really acceptable? I had been thinking of beige/taupe but apparently this color is now passe. Does the color really matter when it comes to re-sale value? Also we actually have a decent amount of windows but people I know still think yellow is the best way to go? This room, when fully remodeled, will be a family room/playroom for our children. Thank you!

any light color will do. Color only affects resale if it is outstandingly good or bad. So, bright red is a no-no, but any light gentle color is fine. Do what looks good to you with your things in place.

Hello AK,

I think a soft yellow is great. If it is going to be a finished area, treat it as any room in your house.
Keeping in mind that there is usually less natural light, so keep it light.

Light greens, beiges, yellows and throw in an accept wall or funiture piece of red. And some flame, and warmth to the space.

Good luck, have fun.
