What is involved in switching from 2 electric meters to one as far as cost and utility notification?

I am thinking of purchasing a home that used to be 2 units and is being sold as a single unit. If there are still 2 electric meters, what do I need to do to have my home on a single meter and is this very expensive?

I'm sure you would have to notify the utility company because if there's two meters, there's probably two accounts and one would have to be shut down. A licensed electrician should be able to most if not all of the work for you and then an electrical underwriter needs to certify the work. I would imagine the cost would be under $5,000. If you're not working with an agent and need assistance, I would be pleased to assist you.
