Sliding house - ballpark idea on what it would cost to rebuild?

Asked by Pam, Pleasant Hill, CA Wed Jun 8, 2011

There is a house in the Lamorinda area that has been in a slide. Most of the property is on a downslope. We were told that the house would have to be lifted, foundation re-poured and then re-leveled, (cost $250K) but we'd like to tear it down to the studs - or maybe the foundation - and remodel. Ballpark idea of the price with mid-level finishes - 3 br, 2 ba 2,000 ft. house?

Pam,

Contractors hard cost is between $80 to $120 per square foot before some additional underground work and permit add ons. $200 per square foot is probably reasonable.
