Should we have a backsplash?

Asked by Private, 27713 Tue Aug 26, 2008

Our home is about 300 Sq feet. We have white cabinets, and white appliance with new gold colored granite counter tops. We are trying to determine adding a backsplash would increase the value of our property?

The house is seven years old .. so we are considering painting the exterior as well. Any insight would be appreciated.

Definitely! It gives a "designer" feel to the kitchen. My clients always comment on whether a house had it or not. It's fairly easy to do, as well. Home Depot has classes and here is a link to HGTV for "tips and tricks":

Good Luck!

Yes, to the backsplash...it is like jewelry for the kitchen. If your home is seven years old, it is probably time for a fresh coat of paint. On both projects be sure to choose neutral colors that will appeal to most people; taupe, beige, tan, white, etc. Avoid blues, yellows and strong colors. If you want to add your own personality with a strong color, use it sparingly as an accent (door or shutters) so that it won't be too difficult to change later should you decide to sell your home.
