Need some help reviewing contractor's bid

I have a bid to build an outdoor kitchen and pergola in our new house and it is a very expensive project. I have zero experience working with contractors and I’d like to consult someone—an attorney or another contractor perhaps—to see if their costs and terms are in line. Do you know of anyone who might be able to help me?

I agree with the first answer below. A general rule is to get at least three bids to compare and contrast. Ask the contractors if they can provide you with some references from previous customers and contact some of those references directly.

You could also start asking some of your friends and acquaintances for contractor referrals. And don't necessarily go with the cheapest bid. As they say, more often than not "you get what you pay for."

Good luck.

Why not consider getting a second contractor to give you a bid on the project?
