If you already have the older kind of parquet that is made up of pieces of hardwood flooring and placed in a pattern individually, that should be no problem. However, if it is some sort of laminant, it might not be as good because you can't sand and refinish a laminant floor like you can the older hardwood floors.

If you are thinking of replacing a floor and putting in parquet, just make sure it matches the decor of the rest of the home. Sometimes newer colors and textures look a bit out of place in an older home. Best to go with the flow when you can.
