If you are going to reside on the property most home owners determine best to complete one room at a time, or "several like rooms" where same contractors on property for a multi rooms. You need to establish a plan flooring, painting, lightings, fixtures, empty cabinets, and etc. only live in minimum lifestyle place all in storage or garage. When I have personally done this lived on property I had the master suite, kitchen completed first. The costs can vary, depends on demo, much of the work a person can do themselves unless you are wanting rooms reconfigured and ect. I work work with interior designer/ contractor have your vision of improvement in writing, color boards and etc.
