Patricia, Other/Just Looking in Portland, OR

Anyone in Portland, OR know of someone who can make old, uneven concrete stairs look good?

Asked by Patricia, Portland, OR Fri Jul 22, 2011

We are going to have our concrete basement floors sanded down and done over with colored epoxy. Before we do that we realized we should probably have a plan for the concrete stairs leading down into the basement. They kind of look like a 5-year old did them ... stairs are slightly different sizes and surfaces are wavy not level. We are hoping to save a little bit of money and maybe pay someone to work with the existing stairs (maybe level them out) as opposed to starting from scratch. In terms of a surface/coating, we are open to either having them covered in epoxy as part of our flooring project or if someone can do a separate treatment on them we're okay with that too. Our only requirement is that the surface be easily cleanable since we have dogs that track mud in.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

I'm an independent stone mason
i cover uneven or cracked old concrete with cut and mortared flagstone. It comes out beautiful.
I started a new project today covering an old uneven and cracked concrete steps and walkway with variegated bluestone.

You need what is called a "hardscaper." I've heard good things about Cornerstone Hardscapes. If you Google their name you'll find their website.
