If you are looking in South Charlotte, this is the most reasonable priced neighborhood in Ballantyne with LOTS of young families and great ammenities/activities all the time and very close to Target, grocery stores, Borders, restaurants, etc. Location, location, location!

I am considering relocating to the Charlotte area from New Jersey but don't know any of the neighborhoods. Can anyone tell me what are the safest family neighborhoods and is close to shopping stores, banks etc., not too noisy, but also not too quiet.

There are several great neighborhoods, but my personal favorites are Dilworth & Southpark. You can always check with a local agent, such as http://www.hendersonproperties.com, to see what they would recommend.

It's a difficult question to answer. What's best for one person might be different for another. What would the ideal neighborhood be like for you? My unbiased opinion (since I am not in the real estate business) is that Longview is the best neighborhood in Charlotte (with Highgate being a close second).

Ballantyne Country Club is an excellent neighborhood with homes starting as low as $500,000 and going into the millions. The schools are great too.

Charlotte has a multitude of beautiful neighborhoods. The best neighborhood for you will depend on the community atmosphere that you seek, whether schools are important to you, the age of housing that you prefer and which community amenities that you want nearby. Charlotte is a big small-town and getting bigger. For a city of our size, crime is relatively low and violent crime is fortunately not a problem for most areas. To help direct you in answering your question, it would be helpful to know two things: What criteria do you consdier in defining 'best'? (price per square foot, lot size, neighborhood size, school zoning-and careful, this can change, nearby parks or shopping) Best is very subjective so providing a plum line for you to measure against is really necessary as an investor for rental property has different criteria than a family of five.

Second, how specific do you need for 'neighborhoods?' South End and Dilworth have seen an explosion in value because of the light rail and Myers Park, Eastover and SouthPark are always a desirable areas. There are subdivisions within the areas or neighborhoods that are grouped more similarly by price and several have community amenities such as pools, tennis and common areas. You're not the first who has asked about specific subdivisions and I'm working on adding that to my website but there is comprehensive area/neighborhood information under Relocation Guide on FindHomeNC.com that might offer you some answers.

One of the best developments in Charlotte, NC is Cobblestone Park. This is a gated community minutes from health care, universities and all the cit has to offer. They just finished a beautiful club house and sports complex. They also have 36 holes of champion golf. We have a good list of properties available there and would love to talk with you about it.
