never got a copy of lease, needed to move due to medical and finanical reasons, what leg do i have to stand on
i was living in an area that was over fifty miles away from my docter, i relocated due to a job, then lost the job, found out I had health issues that would require me to visit a docter quite regularly. I talked to the landlord a few times, we notified her that we wanted to move, and she asked us to please stay, we said we couldn't we really needed to move and wanted out of the contract, a lease in which she wouldn't give us a copy of... then we found another place, one in which we have the option to buy and is alot closer to my docter/ hospital, she is still trying to sue us for eight thousand dollars! We were only there sept thru dec 07. The other thing that I really have a hard time understanding is we had one last load of furniture and my personal belongings, she took the door locks out, so we could not open the door, and had a garbage company come and pick the stuff up... now I am out of valuables, what leg do I have to stand on, can I counter sue her? PLEASE HELP>>> thanks
I am a landlord and a realtor in Delaware. If I go by what I have to do in this state the first thing that should have happened is that you should have been given "The landlord tenant code". Once the lease was signed you should have received a copy of it. Please contact a Real Estate Lawyer. They will know how you should proceed. Good luck!
Your issue calls for an attorney, You really need to hire one, He can ask for a copy of the lease on your behalf, I highly recommned you consult with one...Good luck .
