You have received many well thought out answers and all right on the money. You should consider a little trip down here even a long weekend. If you are in the Philadelphia area I know from experience that Southwest flies direct to West Palm Beach and at great prices. Also this time of year the weather is perfect, the hotels offer off-season rates and the beaches etc are a little quieter. And if you want to look at properties, it is generally easier this time of year because the owners may be "up-north". Lastly, I too love Delray. I have lived in the area for 30+ years and never tire of it.

Steven is correct when he states that it is difficult to tell if Delray is a good choice for you without knowing more about your likes and dislikes.

I am a broker in FL and NJ, and have spent considerable time in Delray. I am not currently servicing Delray and would not be able to represent you in a transaction. However, I would be happy to share my views about Delray.

It is one of my favorite beach towns....not too croweded or crazy, but busy and fun. Great restaurants along Atlantic Blvd. Fun strolling and shopping in town. Ample choices to just stop and have a coffee or a drink. Great place to visit or live.

I tell my clients to fo to http://www.idcide.com/citydata/fl/index.htm and select the different cities at the bottom to help them gather informtion on crime statistics by cities. Of course these are indicative of the past and in no way indicates what will happen in the future.

The web site described in the previous paragaph also has satistics for other states as well.

I am right happy with the satistics in Jupiter, Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Tequesta. The police are quite active in the locations and kudos to them for a job well-done!

To really answer your question, one would need to know more of your likes and dislikes, your lifestyle, and what things are important to you, for example do you want to live out of the cold or close to family and the like.
