Be aware that developers in CA successfully lobbied to EXCLUDE having to disclose building homes upon naturally-occurring asbestos (as they have on Communication Hill in San Jose). So while no asbestos may have been put into the house, the house itself may be built upon ground containing asbestos--ask this question specifically to protect yourself if asbestos is truly a concern for you.

Hey Tam! Just be sure you get an ASHI certified home inspector to provide you with a detailed property inspection report when you decide which home you are willing to buy. This type of certified property inspector knows axactly what to look for and will 'call out' any likleyhood there is evidence of asbestos. Unfortunately, we can no longer assume there is no asbestos because we are now in the 'new millenium'. For example, many products are produced in China and other places that are unwilling to disclose everything. Hence, The toys painted with lead base paint coming from China. Always! error on the side of being compulsive when it comes to hazards that will affect you and your families health.
