Is it friendly to new arrivals, what community activities are available for involvement?

Golden once was the Territorial Capitol of Colorado (before it was a state). The town has a charming Main Street with many shops and restaurants. Nearby the Clear Creek flows down from the mountains. Along the creek is a recreation path for hiking, biking, running or walking. Golden has recently begun to decorate the streets with art, mostly sculptures so walking around town is very pleasant.

The Colorado School of Mines is located in Golden, so the demographics of the town tend to be young. Since so many new people come to town, it is easy to make friends. Colorado and the west is known for it's friendliness.

Peg,
I forgot to mention: Golden, and all of Colorado, is very friendly and welcoming to new arrivals. Golden has a really nice rec center. What are your interests?

Hi Peg,
Golden is a wonderful community with a definite Western small-town feel. It has a creek that runs through it with bike/hike paths alongside, a main street with cute shops and good restaurants, and Coors Brewery hosts tours. Here's a link you may find useful: http://www.ci.golden.co.us/. Hope you visit!
