You can get to Brandywine Valley in PA in under 2hrs from NYC via Amtrak or renting a car. Great wine tasting tours, horseback riding & they also have a great museum documenting the battle between George Washington’s troops and the redcoats in 1777. You would never imagine that you're so close to home!

Looking forward,

Fire Island would be a fun place to visit during summer - you already go advice on the Hamptons and Jersey Shore beaches. Brighton Beach could be a cultural exploration - lots of Russian Restaraints along the beach and beautiful sunsets...
Also Bear Mountain if you like hiking...In the winter - skiing trips to Hunter Mountain and Vermont.
Newport, Rhode Island is a beautiful and fun place to visit

There are so many terrific areas to visit upstate that would make for a great weekend getaway. Woodstock and many of the surrounding areas come to mind. The Hyde Park/Rhinebeck has a lot to offer. New Hope, PA is a favorite getaway of mine. So is Mystic, Conn. So many choices!

Westchester County and the upper Hudson Valley have so many things to do. We have an abundance of hiking/biking trails, parks, shopping, etc. Restaurant week is starting in November for the entire Hudson Valley as well! Check out my page on Facebook called Westchester County Events & Activities and scroll through for tons of ideas.
