There are several great Montesssori schools in the West End. Most are smaller. Depends on your budget as well. Aloha, Beaveton , and East Hillsboro are all good locations to look. I can refer you direct to two schools we liked when our kids went through. I am an agent here with Berkshire Hathaway and would be happy to put my 30 years of experience to work for you!

I would also recommend the Murray Hill area. There is a great Montessori nearby called "Sunshine Montessori". I would also highly recommend a school called "Touchstone" it is in Tigard and I just started our almost 4 year old daughter there.

The school in Murray Hill--Nancy Ryles is a strong school with a good community. There are a few homes outside of Murrayhill available on the market where you could get a better buy for the dollars.

Good Luck!

Hi,

I'm not a Broker or a Realtor, however I am a mother. I grew up in the Beaverton area, and part-time in the Portland area. I would never raise my daughter in Portland. Lake Oswego is great but I can't afford to live there. I currently reside in Oak Hills which has an amazing elementary school, up to par with a private school. I am relocating to Murray Hill to be closer to work and family which is in south Beaverton which is also very nice. If I can recommend areas to move I highly suggest that you check out Oak Hills, Bethany, and Murray Hill. You will not be disappointed. I have never taken the time to respond to these kind of questions but I did because I would hate for you to end up in a "bad" area. Good luck!

Looking in the $300k range will give you a decent selection of homes in the suburban areas of Portland, keep in mind that this price range is turning over pretty good right now. If you are considering making an offer, the market should be cooling a bit in the latter half of October. The inventory of homes for sale is still pretty low due to the number of homes that are underwater on their mortgages, prices have risen a bit this year but not enough to increase the pool to a balanced market situation. Opportunities are available for the buyer who is prepared with financing, knows what and where they want, and are not hesitant to take action when they find it.

My family and I live in the Colonial heights/Abernathy neighborhood of SE Portland. Our 4year old goes to a fantastic Montessori pre-school about 4 blocks from our home.

Its called "silk road montessori" We love the neighborhood too. The Abernathy elementary is supposed to be one of the best neighborhood elementary schools on the east side.

Hi there... here is a link to the Montessori schools in Portland:

http://www.montessori.com/montessori-schools/portland-or-7342/

There are lots of great neighborhoods both in Portland and Beaverton that are good for families and children, and many good schools. Beaverton schools get good grades as well as a number of schools in Portland, and Lake Oswego.

in that 300K price range..you may do better in Beaverton/SW Portland than the east side.

If I can be of help, please don't hesitate to contact me...I can provide you with more info on the top schools/districts in the Portland metro area.

Very best,

Alexis
