We have never been to the city yet, where can we find internet sites giving us ideas about what it's like to live there (especially active discussion forums?) Thanks!

As a resident of PCB,Fl., I want to welcoome you to our sandywhite beaches. The city is small with large city amenities. I live in a very desirable gated community with a Post Office,Sauna, Hair Salon, restaurants, marina, two golf courses and condos and homes. The gulf and bay give us water on three sides of this east end of the island. Our community is called Bay Point.

I have so enjoyed living here, but now I am ready to move north to be with family.

Please view my condo home that is for sale, on panamacitymls.com. Click on property, scrowl down to mls# put in 386992. A virtual tour is available to view inside and outside my home. It is 3 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths, with a bonus room. High ceilings, lots of windows, and an open atrium. The front of the house faces the road with the golf course inbetween. From the back balcony you overlook the patio, pond and the golf course.

You have made a great choice to move to PCB.Fl. If my home doesn't meet your desires, God Bless you in your home search.

Hello Teacherchick, You have perfect timing in your interest in moving here to Panama City Beach. Our city and Bay County is going through a growth spurt. We have new schools open, the hospitals are expanding, our new Pier Park now has 105 stores of the 200 planned, Front Beach Road on the Gulf of Mexico is lined with new condominiums. Also we have the only New International Airport being constructed in the USA at this time right here in Bay County, FL. Flights will begin in May 2010 and our area will definitely become a destination. Now is the time to come here and get settled in so you will be a part of this phenomenal growth and awareness. Go to my website, http://www.SharonHodges.com and look around at the wonderful communities. Check out http://www.baypointmarina.net - other links leads to beach and city information. For school information go to http://www.bay.k12.fl.us . Please let me know when I can be of service to you. Please contact me.

Would you like to view a photo tour of another Florida location that has appeared on lists of best places to retire for years and years -- Vero Beach, Florida. Follow the link below for the tour and other information about this delightful small town that is also the only town in Florida to win recognition in the book "Best Small Towns in America."

Vero Beach is in Indian River County, the only county in Florida allowed to stamp our oranges because they are recognized by the Citrus Commission as the very best. We also boast a wonderful art museum and live professional theatre, but because of our excellent zoning restrictions that prohibit buildings higher than 35 ft, we are the least populated oceanfront county in Florida.

We have homes and condos in all price ranges, from $30,000 to $30,000,000. Our 3 bridges to the barrier island and free public oceanfront parks make Vero Beach a pleasant beach destination for everyone. We have many tennis courts, golf courses, Intracoastal River and ocean boating facilities.

Because we are an oceanfront county near the Gulf Stream, we enjoy milder summer and winter weather than towns on the west coast of our beautiful state. Vero Beach is the beginning of the tropics with average winter temperatures in the 70's and average summer temperatures in the 80's.

Hi TeacherChick,
We have lived in Panama City Beach for just about 5 years and we are very happy here. We moved here from a ranch we had in Wyoming. We think the area has a GREAT quality of life when you mix together the climate, the white sand beaches, the Gulf of Mexico, St. Andrews Bay and the people you get a result such that there is never a lack for anything to do outdoors.

To answer your question with regard to web sites http://pcbdaily.com comes to mind. It a magazine/blog that is a discussion of sorts and includes timely news about the area. I think you'll enjoy it and find it helpful. You can find our chamber of commerce here: http://www.pcbeach.org

The Convention and Visitors Bureau here: http://www.visitpanamacitybeach.com/
Demographic and other information here: http://www.city-data.com/city/Panama-City-Florida.html
Our local newspaper online here: http://www.newsherald.com/

We have some information about the area on our site as well. Please note we have represented quite a few buyers for condos and my wife is an expert with regard to condo buying in Panama City Beach.

Hope that helps and please dont hesitate to call or email us if you have any further questions. We can help you with those questions you may have as buyers from outside the US as well.
Cheers and have a GREAT day!

Your best bet is going to be to get a buyer broker who can assist you in your search. In most cases you can hire a buyer broker at no cost as they get paid a fee offered by the listing broker in mls and paid at closing. This way they can provide you with listings, links to sites and pictures of potential properties and areas. You will have someone who can guide you through your purchase. Good luck with your search.

Teacher,

Congratulations with your decision to begin a search. There are many wonderful locations and opportunities in Florida, places that are almost magical.

Good luck with your continued search. As you explore other areas, we would be happy to provide information about Sarasota County, another very special location.

Best wishes,

The emerald coast in general is a great place. I would encourage you to look a little further west, starting at Santa Rosa Beach area, Destin, Navarre before you decide. There are websites to look at such as http://www.Destin-FWB.com and you can run a search for Navarre as well. I would check out the entire Northwest Florida coastline before actually choosing which area to live in. There are advantages to every area. I would be happy to send you some relocation information as well. I can help you find property in any of these areas, however, and would be happy to be of assistance. Please contact me for further information. You can also check out my website at http://www.DestinHomeSale.com.
