Since crime can happen in any zip code, a licensed Realtor can not comment on an area being "safe" or not.

I have a link on my website that people have told me has been very helpful to them. You can compare zip codes and you'll see the demographics, crime-statistics, etc. Hope this is helpful for you:

Go to http://www.MckinneyRealEstateInfo.com, then go to "insights" and from there you can compare zip codes.

A licensed REALTOR can only give you the facts on where to find crime reports and other statistics on the neighborhood, any statements of "it's very safe," or "a wonderful neighborhood" are strictly opinion based and shouldn't be treated as a basis for your decision on where to live.

I agree, we cannot state whether or not a neighborhood is safe, but we can provide resources where you can research that info, such as here on Trulia, as well as the local police department.

Like Bruce said No Realtor can tell you that, its all subject, your Realtor should provide facts and options, not opinions on this matter.

Hi -

I posted on my blog (http://www.sherryrenfroe.com/blog/2012/01/22/Frisco-is-one-o…) information regarding the CQ Press's City Crime Rankings 2010-2011, as it was reported in the Dallas Morning news on January 22, 2012.

This report is published annually and ranks the cities throughout the US, based on crime reports, as to which are the "safest" as defined by the QR Press.

McKinney ranked #5 in Texas and #41 in the nation, Allen ranked #1 in Texas and #9 in the nation, Frisco ranked #2 in Texas and #14 in the nation. According to the QR Press, the top 50 cities have bragging rights as to being the safest cities in the nation.

There are several websites that you can go out to and look at what crimes have happened in different areas of the city. The one I refer most of my clients to is http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime and on the right hand side click on crime maps and then choose the area you want to search.

Hope this helps!

No good realtor can accurately tell you if the neighborhood is safe or not.
You would want to check with friends, family, co-workers, or the police department.
Safe is such a relative word. Crime is everywhere, so it always depends on who you ask.
Ask the guy next door who got robbed last week and he'll tell you one story, ask the guy on the other side who has never had a problem and he'll tell you a different story.

A good place to research yourself is http://www.neighborhoodscout.com or http://www.crimereports.com (you just put in an address and crime information will come up around that address). Hope that helps.

Great question. Virginia Hills is a a very safe neighborhood. It is located next to Westridge Golf Corse and also next to a small airport for people with personal airplanes. I live and specialize in real estate in McKinney if you have more questions. Let me know if you are interested in seeing any specific properties if you are not already working with another realtor. Have a great day!

Bbray,

Virginia Hills is in a nice neighborhood feeding to Prosper ISD and offering very affordable housing in the North Dallas. You may want to check with McKinney police department and ask for the crime report for that area.

If you are not currently working with any realtor, I'd be happy to show you properties in that area or other area that you are interested. Please feel free to call.

You can almost throw a rock and hit my house from Virginia Hills. I have not seen or heard of any issues at all in that community. As you may or may not know, you can always check the local police department website for stats. It is a very popular community because of the lower price point with Prosper Schools.
