House and land was inherited by me and 3 brothers. I was told by my brothers that my mother wanted me to live in the house when she passed away. Each of them have homes of their own. I have just recently found out that one, maybe more than one brother has been running tag numbers of anyone parked in the drive way. No one really wants to sell their part of the house and 10 acres. Can I do anything about the privacy and all the questions I'm getting about who visits me?
I would have to agree with Shirley and Todd. Sell your share back to your brothers.
I'll agree with Shirley. I'm not certain why they would be getting tag numbers of all my guests. Sounds really odd since tag number information is closely guarded by the state. Does your brother work for the state or something? Why does he care who is parked in your driveway?
In my experience, joint inherited ownership by siblings usually turns out to be a nightmare for one or all of the members involved. Sell your portion, and get out. Then, they can work out the situation amongst themselves and you will not have the headache.
So you do have the house on the market? Your letter doesn't actually say that. Your brothers are owners and you can't sell it without their signatures. If they don't want to sell it, you can't do it. Why not sell your share to your brothers and move? To you, it's the same end result as if you sold the house.
