There are no pig farms and many of the chicken farms have closed in the Ducktown/Heardsvile area. Twenty-five years ago there might have been some odor, but only when the wind blew the wrong way. The Legends and surrounding area has many trees that filter the air.

Len, I previewed a foreclosure in Legends recently and did not ditect any "odor" issues. The community lake is shallow, but I fished it several weeks ago and caught a few Bass. so it appeared to be ok.
In the past there was an issue with a nearby stone quarry that "blasted" on occassion, but I haven't heard any complaints for several years. I live in a nearby community in North Forsyth, so if I can be of further assistance, email or give me a call.

Also, Len, there is a mining company located in the cumming area, but not anywhere near The Legends. I would definitely suggest you drive up there in the middle of the day and check it out for yourself. That's the best way to know for sure if it's going to be a problem for you. I think that you will enjoy the area and I don't see there being quality of life issues there generally. If you live in a subdivision in the area and your lot adjoins a property that is raising chickens or other livestock then you might experience some of these issues. However, that's not going extremely likely for most homeowners because most of the developers are mindful of these issues when they layout the plan for the community. Len~ There have been no complaints or mention of any odors from any of the buyers or agents. The builders name is Bryan Samples and he lives in the subdivision. So that might tell you something right there. There are horse farms up in that area. But none that cause any odor problems close by...that I'm aware of. Most of the lots are on at least 1-2 acres of land.

I have sold homes in that area (not in the Legends, but nearby) and always love a reason to drive up into that beautiful part of the country.
